Department of Land and Natural Resources

The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources manages the state's natural and cultural resources me ka state parks, forest reserves, fishery management areas, coastal zone management, water resource allocation, and historic preservation. Hoʻoponopono ʻia the Conservation District, oversees the Commission on Water Resource Management, and enforces regulations protecting native species and ecosystems. DLNR is responsible for millions of acres of state land and the nā waiwai kūlohelohe that make Hawaii unique.

DLNR's decisions affect ke komo lehulehu to beaches, trails, and parks; the health of Hawaii's reefs and fisheries; and the protection of the native ecosystems that define the islands.
