Hawaii Agriculture Workforce Advisory Board

The Hawaii Agriculture Workforce Advisory Board advises the Department of Agriculture on addressing labor shortages in Hawaii's farming and ranching sector, me ka nā ʻōlelo aʻoaʻo on workforce training, housing for agricultural workers, immigration and visa programs, and mechanization. Hoʻohui ʻia with the University of Hawaii, community colleges, and industry groups to align ka hoʻomohala poʻe hana with agricultural needs. The board aims to sustain Hawaii's local food production capacity.

Hawaii imports the vast majority of its food, and a stable agricultural workforce is essential to improving local food security. Consumers, farmers, and anyone concerned about food costs and supply chain resilience have an interest in this board's work.
