Finance Committee

The Finance Committee of the Hawaii 县议会 reviews and recommends action on the annual county budget, capital improvement program, bond appropriations, and legislation with significant fiscal impact. It evaluates revenues, expenditures, and fund balances across all county departments and submits budget recommendations to the full council. The committee also reviews requests for supplemental appropriations and transfers throughout the fiscal year.

The Finance Committee determines how your property taxes and other county revenues are spent — funding roads, parks, sewers, emergency services, and county programs across the Big Island. Residents and nonprofits that depend on county funding have a direct stake in attending these meetings and testifying on budget priorities.
