Merit Appeals Board

Ang Merit Appeals Board hears appeals from state civil service employees who contest disiplinang aksyons, dismissals, or adverse decisions affecting their employment under Hawaii's civil service merit system. Nagsasagawa ito ng quasi-judicial hearings, reviews the record, and issues decisions that determine whether the employing agency acted within its authority and followed proper procedures. The board provides an independent check on executive branch personnel actions.

State employees who face suspension, demotion, or termination have the right to appeal to this board, which provides an independent review of whether the action was justified and procedurally correct.
