What This Board Does
The Office of Planning and Sustainable Development serves as the principal planning agency for the State of Hawaii, preparing the Hawaii State Plan and functional plans covering land use, transportation, housing, and economic development. It administers the state's Coastal Zone Management Program, coordinates state participation in county land use proceedings, and provides planning data and analysis to state agencies and the Governor. The office's work establishes the long-range framework within which county general plans and land use decisions are made.
