St. Board for Career & Technical Education Coordinating Advisory Council

The State Board for Career and Technical Education Coordinating Advisory Council advises the Hawaii Department of Education on the planning and implementation of career and technical education (CTE) programs in public high schools and community colleges, in compliance with the federal Perkins Act. The council reviews Hawaii's CTE State Plan, monitors program performance, and recommends priorities for improving CTE pathways that lead students to in-demand careers in Hawaii's economy. It bridges secondary education, higher education, and workforce development to strengthen CTE outcomes.

CTE programs in Hawaii's high schools prepare students for careers in healthcare, technology, culinary arts, construction, and many other fields without requiring a four-year degree. Parents, students, employers, and educators can engage with the advisory council to advocate for CTE programs that align with local workforce needs.
