State Council on Development Disabilities

The Hawaii State Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities develops and monitors the State Plan on Developmental Disabilities, which sets five-year goals for advancing independence, productivity, integration, and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities in Hawaii. The council is federally mandated under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act and receives federal funding to support advocacy, capacity building, and systemic change activities. It advocates for policy reforms and service improvements that enable people with developmental disabilities to live full lives in their communities.
