Statewide Independent Living Council

An autonomous, consumer-controlled council established to advocate for the civil rights and independent living of people with disabilities across Hawaii. The council partners with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) to develop and monitor the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL).

The Hawaii State Independent Living Council (SILC) advises 該州 on policies affecting people with disabilities who want to live independently in their communities. The Council develops and monitors the State Plan for Independent Living, coordinates with 該州's Centers for Independent Living, and recommends improvements to housing accessibility, transportation access, personal assistance services, and assistive technology programs. It also reviews federal funding allocations under the Rehabilitation Act.
