Zoning & Planning Committee

The Zoning and Planning Committee reviews changes to the Land Use Ordinance (LUO), rezonings, special design districts, and development agreement proposals before they go to the full Council. It also considers ordinances related to affordable housing requirements tied to new development and updates to the General Plan.

Zoning decisions shape what gets built in your neighborhood — from whether a vacant lot becomes market-rate condos or affordable rentals, to whether commercial corridors allow mixed-use development. Testifying at committee is often more effective than waiting for a full Council vote, because amendments are made at the committee stage.
