Text message (SMS) alerts
What are Civi.Me text alerts?
Civi.Me sends automated informational text messages about upcoming government public meetings in Hawaii. When councils you follow post new meetings, you’ll receive a text with the meeting details and a link to learn more. These are informational alerts only — not marketing or promotional messages.
How do I sign up for text alerts?
Visit Civi.Me/meetings/subscribe, check Text Message under “How should we reach you?”, enter your US phone number, select the councils you want to follow, and click Subscribe. You’ll receive a confirmation text — reply YES to activate your subscription.
How do I stop receiving text messages?
Reply STOP to any text message from Civi.Me. You will receive a confirmation and no further messages will be sent. You can also text STOP to our number at any time.
How do I get help via text?
Reply HELP to any text message from Civi.Me for support information. You can also email help@Civi.Me or visit this page.
How many texts will I receive?
Message frequency varies depending on how many councils you follow and your chosen frequency setting. Typical volume is 1-10 messages per week. You can reduce message volume by switching to a daily or weekly digest.
Will I be charged for text messages?
Civi.Me does not charge for text alerts. However, standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Check with your carrier for details about your messaging plan.
What carriers are supported?
Civi.Me text alerts are compatible with all major US mobile carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, US Cellular, and others. Only US phone numbers (+1) are supported.
I replied YES but didn’t get a confirmation
Make sure you replied to the message from Civi.Me with the word YES (not case-sensitive). If it still doesn’t work, try subscribing again or switch to email notifications. If the problem persists, email help@Civi.Me with your phone number and we’ll help.
Do you share my phone number?
No. We never share your phone number or SMS opt-in data with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is used only to deliver the meeting alerts you requested. See our privacy policy for full details.
Meeting reminders
What is a meeting reminder?
A meeting reminder is a one-time email sent the morning of a specific meeting. It’s different from a subscription — you get one reminder for one meeting, not ongoing alerts. You can set a reminder from any meeting detail page.
I set a reminder but didn’t receive it
Reminders require confirmation. After setting a reminder, check your email for a confirmation link from alert@Civi.Me. You must click the link to activate the reminder. Check your spam folder if you don’t see it.
