What's Being Discussed

The Hawaii State Council on Developmental Disabilities (DD Council) is holding a public meeting to gather feedback on its proposed Five-Year State Plan for 2027–2031. This plan outlines the Council's goals, objectives, and activities for the next five years and is required by federal law.

The plan was developed with input from community committees across the state and covers eight priority areas:

• Early childhood
• Education
• Employment
• Family support
• Health
• Housing
• Supports for individuals with disabilities
• Transportation

The overall aim of the plan is to promote self-determination, independence, and community inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Hawaii.

Decisions Expected

No formal votes are expected at this meeting. The primary purpose is to collect public comments on the proposed State Plan. Written comments can be submitted through July 17, 2026 by mail, fax, or email to the DD Council at hiscdd@doh.hawaii.gov or 1010 Richards Street, Suite 122, Honolulu, HI 96813.
