The Hawaii State Apprenticeship Council (SAC) is holding its second quarterly meeting of 2026 on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The meeting is open in person in Honolulu and via Zoom. Key topics include:

A statistical update on apprentices who registered, were cancelled, or completed programs between January and March 2026
Proposed updates to the apprenticeship standards for Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO), including new entry requirements and added training hours for Substation Electricians
Proposed updates to the apprenticeship standards for Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO), including changes to committee structure and how prior experience is credited
Proposed updates to the apprenticeship standards for Maui Electric Company (MECO), including a new apprenticeship occupation: Combined Cycle Plant Mechanic
Final review of the Hawaii Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program (Hi-RTAP), which previously received conditional approval and now includes signed agreements from the Department of Education, HGEA, and HSTA

Decisions Expected

Council members will vote on whether to recommend approval or disapproval of the updated apprenticeship standards for HECO, HELCO, MECO, and Hi-RTAP to the DLIR Director
The Council will also consider approving the minutes from the August 27, 2025 meeting
