What's Being Discussed

The Nā Ala Hele Statewide Advisory Council — the state's trail program advisory body — is holding its annual meeting on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. You can attend in person in Honolulu or join online via Zoom. Main topics include:

• Reviewing a list of trail projects (Recreation Trails Program Project Table) that are being considered for federal funding
• Reviewing a draft Program Plan for Nā Ala Hele — the public comment period on this plan runs through July 31, 2026
• Discussing the roles of Advisory Council members, community-hosted meetings, and small working groups
• Updates on staffing, budget (including a "Green Fee" fund called Nā Manu ʻElele Trail Stewards), and revisions to administrative rules
• Trail and activity updates from council representatives on each island

Decisions Expected

• Vote to approve the Recreation Trails Program Project Table — required for listed trails to receive federal funding
• Vote to select council leadership (Chair) for the 2026–2027 term
• Approval of minutes from the June 12, 2025 meeting
