What's Being Discussed

The Hawaiʻi School Facilities Authority (SFA) Board is holding its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at 2759 South King Street, Room C5, Honolulu. A courtesy Zoom option is also available for the public.

The board will receive updates on:

  • Reports from four subcommittees covering learning spaces, workforce housing, planning, and executive matters
  • The Executive Director's update on day-to-day operations and three key programs:
    • Preschool expansion efforts
    • New school construction and modernization
    • Workforce housing for school employees

Decisions Expected

The board is expected to vote on several items, all recommended by the Executive Subcommittee:

  • Changes to the board's bylaws, including restructuring subcommittees and adjusting rules for smaller projects
  • Selecting board officers and appointing subcommittee members
  • Setting up a performance evaluation process for the Executive Director
  • Approving priority goals for the Executive Director for Fiscal Year 2026–2027
  • Reviewing the Executive Director's employment contract, including a possible salary adjustment and a flat monthly car allowance

Who Should Pay Attention

  • Parents and families interested in preschool expansion or new school construction
  • School employees who may benefit from workforce housing programs
  • Community members concerned about how public school facilities are planned and funded
  • Anyone interested in how the SFA board governs itself and compensates its leadership

Public testimony is welcome in person, virtually, or in writing at sfaboard@hisfa.org.
