What's Being Discussed

• Commission updates: The Executive Director will share a summary of the mediation program and caseload data, including case comparisons by year and how long cases have been open.
• Two active civil rights cases: The Commission will review progress on a complaint filed by Shannel E. Diederiks against Aliʻi Builders, LLC (related to employment) and a complaint filed by Frank Resurreccion against K's Drive-In (related to disability discrimination).
• New digital accessibility law: Act 257, signed into law on July 14, 2026, requires businesses that are open to the public to make their digital services accessible to people with disabilities. The Commission will discuss how to gather public input and begin writing new rules to carry out this law.
• Hiring update: The Commission will discuss a report on the search for a new Deputy Executive Director and may vote on extending a conditional job offer to the top candidate.
• General Commission discussion: Topics include how the Commission is structured and what it does, common public questions, and a public request for the Commission to support the Clean Slate Coalition.

• A possible vote to extend a conditional job offer for the Deputy Executive Director position.
