Annual Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Process: State and local government agencies that store personal information are required to submit annual reports to this council by September 30. The council will discuss how agencies are following through on this requirement.
Cybersecurity of Water Systems: Following cyberattacks on public water systems in mid-2026, the council will discuss how to better protect Hawaii's water infrastructure. Attackers exploited weak security practices, such as default passwords and lack of multi-factor authentication, on internet-connected control systems.
Frontier AI and Cybersecurity: The council will discuss how advanced artificial intelligence tools are changing cybersecurity — both as a defense tool for government agencies and as a potential weapon used by bad actors to launch faster, more convincing attacks.
Executive Session Procedures: A state oversight office previously ruled that the council improperly held a closed-door session in October 2024. The council will discuss how to correctly handle executive sessions going forward.
Approval of June 17, 2026, Meeting Minutes: The council will review and formally approve notes from the previous meeting.
