What's Being Discussed
The Disability and Communication Access Board (DCAB), part of Hawaii's Department of Health, is holding its Annual Planning Meeting on September 17, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in person at the Kamamalu Building in Honolulu and also available via Zoom.
The main topics include:

End-of-year review of what DCAB accomplished in Fiscal Year 2025–2026, covering areas such as civil rights, facility access, communication access, education, emergency preparedness, transportation, parking, and employment
Proposed work plan for Fiscal Year 2026–2027, which adds Technology Accessibility as a new focus area alongside the continuing topics from the prior year
Public comments and written testimony on any agenda items

Decisions Expected

Election of officers — The Board will nominate and vote on a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson for FY 2026–2027
Approval of the FY 2026–2027 Plan of Action — The Board will discuss and vote on the proposed goals and priorities for the coming year

Anyone interested in accessibility, civil rights, transportation, or emergency preparedness for people with disabilities
