What's Being Discussed

The Disability and Communication Access Board (DCAB), part of the Hawaii Department of Health, is holding its Annual Planning Meeting on September 24, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in person at the Kamamalu Building, 1010 Richards Street, Room 118, Honolulu, and also via Zoom.

The main topics include:

• End-of-Year Review: A look back at what the Board and staff accomplished in Fiscal Year 2025–2026 across areas such as civil rights, facility access, communication access, education, transportation, parking, employment, and emergency preparedness.
• New Action Plan: A review and discussion of the proposed goals and priorities for Fiscal Year 2026–2027, which adds a new focus area on technology accessibility compared to the previous year.
• Public Testimony: Members of the public will have an opportunity to comment on agenda items before the Board deliberates.

Decisions Expected

• Election of Officers: The Board will nominate and vote on a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson for FY 2026–2027.
• Adoption of Action Plan: The Board will vote on the proposed Plan of Action for FY 2026–2027, which sets the Board's priorities for the coming year.
