What's Being Discussed
The Kāneʻohe Bay Regional Council, overseen by the state Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), is holding its meeting on September 30, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM. You can attend in person at Windward Community College (Hale Naʻauao, Room 125) or join online via Zoom. Key topics include:

Kāneʻohe Bay Master Plan: A progress update on long-term planning for the bay.
Makai Watch Program: A report on community-based ocean monitoring and outreach activities.
Ahu O Laka (the sandbar): A recap of a community meeting held in August about recreational use concerns and possible solutions.
Invasive Majano Anemone: An update on this invasive species outbreak and the plan to control it.
Navy aircraft reef damage: A report on reef harm caused by the grounding of a Navy P-8A aircraft in the bay.
Aquarium fish harvesting: An update on efforts to pursue a statewide ban on commercial aquarium fish collection through formal rulemaking.

Decisions Expected

Approving the meeting agenda and minutes from the June 3, 2026 council meeting and the July 8, 2026 Master Plan committee meeting.
