What's Being Discussed
The Hawaiʻi Teacher Standards Board (HTSB) is holding a special meeting on October 5, 2026 at 10:00 AM. The meeting can be attended in person at 650 Iwilei Road, Suite 158, Honolulu, or virtually via Zoom (ID: 837 8263 0103, Passcode: 343497).
The main focus of this special meeting is the search for a new Executive Director for the HTSB. Specifically, the board will hear from a small working group (called a Permitted Interaction Group) that was formed to research and plan this hiring process. Topics include:

A verbal report from the working group sharing their findings and recommendations on how to conduct the Executive Director search
A proposed timeline and action plan for carrying out the search (New Business Item 26-10)

The board is expected to review and potentially approve the working group's recommended timeline and action plan for finding and hiring a new Executive Director

Teachers and educators in Hawaiʻi, since the Executive Director leads the agency that sets teacher licensing standards

Public testimony is welcome. You may submit written testimony by email to htsb@hawaii.gov, by fax, or by mail. Online testimony via Zoom is also accepted. Each testifier is allotted five minutes. The next regular HTSB meeting is scheduled for November 13, 2026.
