What's Being Discussed

The Maunakea Management Board will hold a regular public meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting is both in-person at the Institute for Astronomy in Hilo and virtual via Zoom. Key topics include:

• Kahu Kū Mauna Report — an update from the advisory council focused on Hawaiian cultural practices and stewardship of Maunakea
• Executive Director's Report — covering the ongoing transition to the new Maunakea Stewardship and Oversight Authority (MKSOA), including:
  • An update on the University of Hawaiʻi Master Plan Amendment
  • Progress on developing a Strategic Management Plan for Maunakea
  • Status of lease agreements
  • Requests for proposals (RFPs) for environmental review (EIS), administrative rules, and systems integration
• Private (Executive) Session — the Board will meet privately with its attorney to discuss the Board's legal role in its joint-management responsibilities with MKSOA

• Approval of the minutes from the previous meeting
