What's Being Discussed

This is a reconvened meeting of the Maui County Council's Housing and Land Use Committee, originally started on July 29 and August 10, 2026. The meeting picks up where those sessions left off and focuses on one main topic:

• Three proposed bills related to the Ha'ikū Fire Station site — a 6.097-acre parcel in Hāmākualoa (near Ha'ikū), Maui. The bills would change the legal classification of this land so it can be used as a fire station:
• Bill 89 (2026): Changes the state land use classification from Agricultural to Rural.
