Kauai Police Commission

The Kauai Police Commission provides civilian oversight of the Kauai Police Department, appointing and evaluating the chief of police, reviewing department policies, and receiving complaints from community members about police conduct. The commission has authority to investigate the chief's performance and to recommend disciplinary action up to removal. It is the primary civilian accountability body between Kauai's community and its law enforcement agency.

Kauai residents who have concerns about police conduct, department policy, or the performance of police leadership have a direct avenue through this commission. Public meetings give residents an opportunity to engage with the commission on law enforcement priorities and accountability measures.
