Reapportionment Commission

The Hawaii Reapportionment Commission redraws the boundaries of state legislative and congressional districts following each decennial U.S. Census to reflect population changes and ensure equal representation. The nine-member commission applies constitutional and statutory criteria including population equality, community of interest, and geographic compactness when drawing new maps. Its decisions determine which neighborhoods are grouped together into legislative districts for the following decade.
