Trauma-Informed Care Task Force ACT 209

The Trauma-Informed Care Task Force, established under Act 209, develops recommendations for implementing trauma-informed approaches across Hawaii's state agencies, schools, and social service systems. The task force examines how unresolved trauma affects health, behavior, and life outcomes and recommends training, policy changes, and system reforms to ensure that government services recognize and respond to trauma without re-traumatizing individuals. It coordinates across health, education, human services, and justice agencies.

Trauma-informed practices in schools, healthcare settings, and social services can fundamentally improve how Hawaii's government systems treat residents who have experienced adverse childhood experiences or other trauma.
