What's Being Discussed

The Hawaii Department of Transportation's Medical Advisory Board is meeting on August 10, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The meeting will be held both remotely via Microsoft Teams and in person at the Motor Vehicle Safety Office in Aiea, Oahu.

The board will review the medical records of individuals who have applied for a Hawaii driver's license. A total of 40 cases will be considered:

• 38 cases from Oahu
• 1 case from Hawaii Island
• 1 case from Kauai
• 0 cases from Maui

Because these cases involve confidential medical information, the board will immediately move into a closed Executive Session — a private meeting permitted under Hawaii state law — to discuss and deliberate on each applicant.

Decisions Expected

The board is expected to make recommendations on whether each applicant should be issued a Hawaii driver's license, and whether any special conditions or requirements should apply. These recommendations are based on each applicant's medical condition.
