What's Being Discussed

The Hawaii Council on Revenues is meeting on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 2:00 PM via Zoom to forecast how much money the state expects to collect in tax revenue for its General Fund over the next several years.

• A presentation by Dr. Baybars Karacaovali covering recent tax collections and General Fund revenues for fiscal years 2024–2026, as well as major tax law changes that took effect in 2026
• A review of the current revenue forecast model compared to the Council's previous official forecast
• A report from the Department of Budget & Finance on other (non-tax) revenues
• Approval of minutes from the July 30, 2026 meeting
• Scheduling of a future meeting to forecast total personal income

Decisions Expected

The Council is expected to vote on official General Fund tax revenue forecasts for the following periods:

• Fiscal Year 2027
• Fiscal Year 2028
• Fiscal Years 2029 through 2033

These forecasts help the state plan its budget and determine how much money is available for public services.
