What's Being Discussed
The Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) Survey Committee is meeting on September 30, 2026 from 2:30–3:30 PM. The meeting is available in person in Honolulu or via Zoom. The main topics include:

How to distribute a Community Needs Assessment Survey — The committee will discuss sharing the survey online, by mail, through social media, and via community organizations. They will also discuss making it available in multiple languages, large print, Braille, ASL video, and other accessible formats.
Reaching underserved communities — Outreach efforts will focus on rural areas, neighbor islands, and communities that are often left out of planning processes.
Survey timeline — When the survey launches, how long it stays open, how reminders will be sent, and how results will be compiled and reported.
"Talk Story" community forums — Planning for public conversations across the state, including the number of sessions, locations, in-person and virtual formats, language interpreters, and captioning services.
Committee meeting schedule — How often the committee will meet, in what format, and a proposed calendar through completion of the planning process.

A possible vote on the committee's future meeting schedule is listed as an action item. All other topics are discussion only at this meeting.
