What's Being Discussed

This is a reconvened meeting of the Maui County Council's Disaster Recovery, International Affairs, and Planning (DRIP) Committee, continuing work started on September 17, 2026. The meeting is chaired by Tamara Paltin.

The sole agenda item is Bill 108 (2026), which proposes replacing the old Kihei-Makena Community Plan with a new South Maui Community Plan. Community plans are long-range guides that shape how land is used and how communities grow over time.

• The committee will focus on Section 2: Policy Framework of the draft plan
• Members may also review other parts of the plan, including how its policies connect to the broader Maui Island Plan and Countywide Policy Plan

Decisions Expected

The committee may take one or more of the following actions:

• Recommend passing Bill 108 on its first reading, with or without changes
• Revise parts of the proposed South Maui Community Plan before moving it forward
• File (set aside) the bill without further action
