Education
Public education in Hawaii is governed by a single statewide Board of Education, making it one of the few unified school systems in the country. The University of Hawaii system — spanning community colleges, four-year campuses, and research programs — operates under its own Board of Regents. The Charter School Commission oversees independent public schools.
