Energy & Utilities
Hawaii has committed to 100 percent renewable electricity by 2045, one of the most ambitious clean energy mandates in the United States. The Hawaii State Energy Office coordinates policy, while the Public Utilities Commission regulates utilities including Hawaiian Electric and Kauai Island Utility Cooperative. Rate cases, interconnection standards for rooftop solar, and utility infrastructure plans all go through contested case hearings where consumer advocates and residents can formally participate and shape the transition.
